William Carlis “Dub” Burns, 78, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on February 20, 2025. He was born on September 29, 1947, to the late Carlis and Odie Mae Burns. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife in 2007, Wanda Sue Burns; daughters, Robin Renee Freeman and Brenda Oryan; brothers, Cecil Burns, Gene Burns, Fred Burns, Richard Burns, and Tony Burns; sister, Ruby Cudd; and great-grandson, Laney House Jr.
Dub loved the outdoors and was known for his green thumb.
He is survived by his son, Billy (Teresa) Burns; daughters, Susan (Bobby) Ankney, April Thacker, and Brandy (Kenneth) Price; sister, Shirley (Doug) Marvel; grandchildren, Cody and Brianna Burns, Chandler and Eden Burns, Tiffany (Will) Jones, Tanner and Ashley Harmon, Colt and Katie Ankney, Kassey and Laney House, Kayla Chastain, Ariele Anderson, Canyon Mantooth, Dominique Gladney, Isaac Thacker, Abby Thacker, Sarah Grace Thacker, Trinity and Byron Randolph, Serenity Price, Haylee Price, Brittany and Desh Montoya, Shelbi and Demetrius Mungo, and Wayne Freeman; great-grandchildren, Avie and Lyndie Burns, Kinley, Brady and Bensyn Jones, Blaine and Liam Haspel, Autumn and Auburn Ankney, Brylee, Ella, Eli, and Quinton House, Kaselyn Chastain, Noah Satterfield, Lyla Gonzalez, Piper Baggett, Caleb Randolph, and Harper Eaker. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 24, 2025, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
A memorial service will follow on Monday at 7:00 PM from the Chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
The Brannon family and staff are honored to serve the family of William Carlis “Dub” Burns.
