William Patrick Burns, 77, born on February 16, 1948, in Alcorn County, Mississippi, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS. He was a beloved member of his family and a valued part of his community, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and dedication.
William’s career as an EQ Operator at WS Newell Construction Company reflected his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. He served his country honorably as a Private (E2) in the United States Army, demonstrating his unwavering spirit and sense of duty.
He is survived by his daughters, Nicole Burns and Pershell (Tracy) Walker. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by his siblings: brothers Samuel Simmons and Randolph Simmons, and sisters Lillie Murray and Christine Simmons. These cherished family members will forever hold his memory close, and their lives have been enriched by the time they shared together.
William was preceded in death by his father, Dossy Burns, and his mother, Jessie Lee Nolan, who will be waiting for him with open arms. Their influence undoubtedly shaped the man he became and the love he shared with those around him. He is also preceded in death by his son, William Burns.
Services to honor William's life will be held at Smith Chapel Holiness Church, located at 50068 Burr Road, Aberdeen, MS 39730. A visitation will take place from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 31, 2026, followed by a Celebration of Life beginning at 1:00 PM.
