William Busch Obituary
William Roberts "Bob" Busch, Jr., 83, of Stafford County, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Bob was born on July 10, 1942, at the Auburn University infirmary. His remarkable career began as an Apollo astronaut instructor at Cape Kennedy, Florida, where he contributed to the nation's space program. In 1972, he settled in Fredericksburg and went on to dedicate 32 years of service at NSWC, Dahlgren. He also worked for Lockheed-Martin.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jackie S. Busch; daughter, Sarah Sullivan (Hugh); son, Paul R. Busch; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Will Sullivan; and sister-in-law, Sarah Pelfrey of North Carolina.
No funeral or viewing. A celebration party will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ferry Farm Baptist Church Building Fund.

Jackie, Sarah, Paul and kids,
Bob was a co-worker and friend. He was a significant part of successfully introducing digital weapons systems to the Navy! In addition to his technical expertise, he was a genuinely great guy -friendly, great sense of humor, perpetual smile. Although I didn´t see him often after retiring, it is still fills me with a great sadness to learn that he is gone. But I still have great memories - my favorite is running the rapids down the Rapidan in our canoes.

Oh, wow! Bob was such a great, amiable, humble and generous guy! We worked together at Lockheed Margin. He once gave me a 5" shell from his work with the G dept! Great show-n-tell at a boys camp in WV comparing it with a little .22 shell! He loved his little popup camper. And He always had a story to share.

So sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He was a truly nice man to know and to work with. I have good memories of working with him. I hope the rest of the family are healthy and doing well.

I have the fondest memories of Bob. When I came to work at NSWC in 1977 as a co-op, Bob was one of my first mentors and I fine one he was. Mentor to me a great engineering manager and a good friend. My condolences to families and friends. RIP Bob.
