William Campbell Obituary

William H. Campbell Sr. (Bill) passed away at home on Sunday May 18, 2025 after a long battle with COPD. Bill was born in York, Maine on September 18, 1949. He was the son of William and Mary (Michaud) Campbell.

Bill worked for the B&M Railroad for 15 years then moved on to Ashwood Holmes until his retirement. He was married three times, his first marriage to Lillian gave him two sons William and John Campbell. His second marriage to Karen gave him three more children; Timmie, Tommie, and Tammie. His final marriage to the love of his life Michelle, gave him two step children Scott, Lisa and his beloved dogs. Although the first two marriages ended in divorce he remained very good friends with both of them.

He had so many very dear friends that he cherished throughout his life; Bobby and Twink, John and Tina, Ernie and Linda, Donna, Mike, Roland, Gizzy, Dennis, Dave and all of his incredible coworkers. He was especially thankful for his amazing dedicated neighbors.

He loved Nascar racing and collected all the Dale Earnhardt memorabilia he could find to showcase in his infamous Earnhardt room. His great sense of humor and ability to make others laugh and smile will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him. He had many diverse hobbies in his lifetime; hunting and fishing for hours, watching Wrestling, black coffee with friends at any time of the day, going for drives, riding his four wheeler, playing cribbage or marble chase with the family, and keeping his yard meticulously manicured as well as his glorious sheds. He loved his visits to the casinos, Las Vegas was a highlight for him along with Foxwoods and other local casinos. He was known to be lucky, winning twenty thousand on a two dollar scratch ticket, ten thousand at Foxwoods on an eighty-eight cent bet and even hours before he passed fifty dollars on a scratch ticket.

He was blessed with his wife Michelle who took great care of him. He was spoiled by her, she did everything for him and put all her energy and love into making sure he had everything he wanted. This was his biggest jackpot!!

Bill leaves behind his loving wife Michelle, Sons; William Campbell (Missy), John Campbell, Timmie Campbell (Karen), Tommie Campbell (Jessica) and his only daughter Tammie Nelson (John), his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his loving siblings; Barbara Keenan (Kevin), Ralph Campbell (Diane), Linda Campbell (Carol), Donna Brown (Mitch) along with many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by Aunt Carmen, Brother Lary, sisters Shelia Brown and Lydia Knapp.

The family would like to thank Bayada hospice, specifically; Kate, Jody, and Shelly for making Bill so happy in his last few weeks.

Bill's family will have a celebration of life at a later date. Bill's last act of kindness was a donation to St. Judes to help sick children and their families. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to St. Judes or a random act of kindness to put a smile on someone's face.
