William Lamont Capocci Jr., 81, of Whitman, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 1, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on September 21, 1943, William was the son of the late William and Lillianne (Evans) Capocci. He was raised in Medfield, Massachusetts, and eventually made his home in Whitman, where he lived for many years.

William proudly served his country in the Vietnam War as part of the U.S. Army's Special Services. After his military service, he went on to build a successful career in the financial industry. He was a dedicated member of the town's financial committee for many years, where he offered his insight and commitment to the community.

A man of great curiosity and adventure, William was an avid traveler who loved exploring new places around the world.

He is survived by his significant other, Kathleen Castagnozzi; his daughter, Kimberly Capocci Corbett; and his son, William L. Capocci III and his wife, Amy. William was the grandfather to Benjamin, Nicholas, Katherine, and Alexander. He is also survived by his sisters, Barbara, Laurie, and Sherry.

William was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jo-Anne (Murray) Capocci.

Yesterday

So sorry to hear of Bill´s passing. My wife Midge and I had met Bill and Kathy last October for lunch. It was such a nice visit. Bill and I served in Vietnam together in April 1968 to April of 1969. We worked out of Can Tho in IV Corps. with the 5th Special Forces Group S2. Bill was an excellent soldier and will be missed. Rest in peace my friend, it was an honor to serve with you. Bill Meehan
