William "Ray" Carder Jr., 97, a resident of the Hillsboro community passed away Saturday morning, August 2, 2025 at his home. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2025 at the All Saints Episcopal Church; 327 NE Lincoln St. in Hillsboro. A reception will follow the services at the Church Hall. Interment will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2025 at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR. Ray was born on June 8, 1928 in Portland, OR. He was one of two children born to William and Corra (Bellamy) Carder. He was raised in Beaverton and graduated from Beaverton High School, he also attended Oregon State University and finished a Master's degree at Oregon State University. He met his wife, Joanne Cox, at a "Nickel Hop" at OSU. They soon began to court and were married in December 31, 1949 in Klamath Falls, OR. Following their marriage, they made their home in Corvallis, OR until 1951 when they moved to Prineville, OR. In 1956 they made their final move to Hillsboro. Together, Ray and Joanne had three children; Kathryn, Marilyn and Bill. Ray was widowed in 2010. Ray worked in the Public School District for over 25 years. After working in administration, he retired as the assistant superintendent. Ray and his wife were bulldog breeders. They traveled extensively throughout the country showing and attending dog shows. Ray was an avid golfer. He volunteered at the Oregon Golf Association and was a member of the Forest Hills Golf Club for over 50 years. Ray also enjoyed caring for his roses and providing a beautiful flowerbed each year for he and his neighbors to enjoy. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, two daughters and sister. Survivors include son Bill Carder of Aloha, OR, seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
