William Carlock Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory - Manitowoc on Dec. 3, 2025.
William Carlock, age 87, a "transplanted" Manitowoc resident, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025 at Holy Family Memorial in Manitowoc, after an illness that lasted several months.

William was born on June 15, 1938 in Normal, Illinois to Lee and Dorothy Carlock. He was their only child. William is a direct descendant of many early settlers and pioneers who came to America in the late 1600s and early 1700s. Two of his direct paternal ancestors were personal friends of Presidents Washington and Lincoln.

William excelled in high school. He also loved music from very early childhood, and he was a member of the school choir, played the French horn in the band, as well as the piano and organ in church. He was high school valedictorian and received a full scholarship to the University of Illinois, where he received his doctor of medicine degree in 1963. Since then, he never stopped practicing medicine – he was so dedicated to his patients that he took care of them almost to his last day. As a physician, he possessed an incredible work ethic, and his patients' welfare was paramount to him. His work was his extremely important to him, and it sustained him throughout his life. William's mind was sharp as a tack to his last day.

William was a true Renaissance man. He owned and read thousands of books, studied history, philosophy, loved classical music, played the piano and the French horn. He was an avid skier, snowboarder, diver, mountain climber, as well as a passionate windsurfer and sailor. He excelled in all these areas, and loved his life immensely. He enjoyed travelling frequently to Germany, Austria, Vienna and the Italian Dolomites. He was a great story teller, always entertaining anyone who was willing to listen to his stories.

William is survived by his loving and forever devoted wife Gabriela, two sons, Malcolm (Tatiana) and Christopher, grandchildren Alex and Brooke, stepdaughter Daniela (John), stepson David, and step-grandchildren Austin and Owen. He also leaves behind his beloved cats Lili and Jack, and he was preceded in death by Bailey, Bitzi and Maya, his other cats, which were very important to him.

William will be remembered by all who loved, knew him, or worked with him. His life mattered greatly, and he had a positive impact on everyone who ever came in touch with him.

In accordance with William's wishes, no service will be held and the interment will be private.

Godspeed, William!
