William "Bill" Carruthers, 75, of Warsaw, MO, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at his home. He was born April 26, 1950, in Coshocton, OH, the son of Max Glenn Carruthers and Virginia Loraine (Green) Carruthers, who preceded him in death.
Bill was a proud graduate of Herbert Hoover High School in San Diego, CA, Class of 1968. Following high school, he spent three adventurous years living in Hawaii before moving to Otterville, MO, to help his father on the family hog farm. In 1978, Bill began working for Missouri/Union Pacific Railroad, in railway maintenance, and dedicated 12 years to the company before retiring early in 1990.
After retirement, Bill made his home in Warsaw, MO, where he worked for Mike Ross Construction. He loved spending time on Truman Lake boating and fishing, and he had a passion for raising and showing Quarter Horses.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Jessica Carruthers (Travis Mathews) of Columbia, MO; his son, Neil Bennett (Julie) of San Diego, CA; eight grandchildren, Brittany, Selena, Cameron, Cuirren, Adien, Kasen, Jessica, and Kaitlyn; a great-grandson, Bentley; a sister, Penny King of Warrenton, MO; a brother, Alan "Butch" Carruthers of Knoxville, TN; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Colleen Tattrie; and a half sister, Beverly Dickson.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Monday, August 18, 2025, at Rea Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Bob Hardy officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
