William Casaday Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 10, 2025.
William "Bill" Madison Casaday, peacefully passed away on March 6, 2025, at The Blake, finding eternal rest and a joyous reunion with his beloved wife, Marie, and his Savior, Jesus Christ. Born on July 3, 1935, in Washington County, VA, to Olaf and Pearl Casaday, Bill lived a life rich in love and dedication.
Bill's legacy is cherished by his daughter, Sheila Casaday Millner and her husband Dave; and sons, Billy Casaday and his wife Jennie; Danny Casaday and his wife Stacy; Jon Casaday and his wife Haven. He was a proud Pappaw to eight grandchildren: Patrick and Drew Millner, Ashley Casaday Hargrove, Kate Casaday Simard, Tyler and Austin Casaday, Mariah Casaday Long, and Beckett Casaday. Additionally, he leaves behind four great-grandchildren: Makayla, Kamdyn, and Kylie Hargrove, and Lily Simard. He is also survived by his dear sister, Wilma Rutherford of Bristol, TN.
After serving honorably in the U.S. Army, Bill furthered his education at East Tennessee State College and the University of Tennessee, earning an Electrical Engineering degree through the GI Bill. His successful 37-year career at Sperry Marine Systems was followed by a fulfilling retirement of travel and driving for local dealerships.
For 57 years, Mount View Baptist Church in Charlottesville was Bill's spiritual home, where he served as a devoted deacon and forged deep friendships. He was also a long-standing member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Bill's love for family shone brightly, especially during the holidays, when his festive Christmas lawn displays brought joy to his neighborhood.
An avid golfer, fisherman, and bowler, Bill treasured sharing his passions with loved ones. He was a devoted husband and father, and a proud supporter of his grandchildren's sporting endeavors. A lifelong Tennessee Volunteers fan, his signature Tennessee hat was a familiar sight at The Blake.
Bill's unwavering faith was the cornerstone of his life, and his family finds comfort in knowing he is now with his Lord. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to The Blake, BrightStar Care, and Medi Hospice for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, in honor of Bill's generous spirit.
Friends are invited to visit Hill & Wood Funeral Home on Thursday, March 13th, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at Mount View Baptist Church on Friday, March 14th, at 1:00 pm, followed by interment at Holly Memorial Gardens. Reverend David Hallingshead will officiate.

We are sincerely sorry for your great loss. Denan and Ian loved having a relationship with Marie when she was their crossing guard and Ian enjoyed his friendship with Bill, always checking on him when home. It's reassuring to know that your mom and dad are reunited once again.
