William Alfred Cason was born January 28, 1943, to Nathaniel (Dadnay) and Ruth (Butner) Cason. He was the fourth of nine children; however, the first to be born in a hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Nathaniel and Randy Cason and sister Patricia Cason Smith.

William, affectionately known as Billy, grew up in Kansas City, Missouri with his Summer home in Glascow, MO. Billy accepted Christ at a young age and was a life-long member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church where he was active in various ministries, including the UMC Men and singing in the various choirs.

Billy attended Wendell Phillips Elementary School, Lincoln Jr. High School and Manual High and Vocational School where he graduated in 1961.

Billy met Bernice Oliver in July 1958, and they were married on September 8, 1962. To this union came Anitra, Lee Anna, Laurice, Teresa, and Derrick.

He began work when he was knee high to a grasshopper making fifty-five cents an hour. In October of 1964, he landed a job at General Motors where he held many positions until he retired after 30+ years.

Billy truly enjoyed cooking, baking, singing, and sports. He played on the General Motors basketball team, softball team with his brother Charles, and bowled on several leagues with various family members for many years. He especially loved bowling with his brother Randy. He was a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Lakers fan. He was also the sideline coach for his children and grandchildren at all of their sporting events. Billy was an active member of Manual High School Class of 1961 Alumni.

Billy departed this life on Sunday, September 21, 2025 and leaves to mourn his devoted, loving wife, Bernice of 63 years; children Anitra (Michael), Lee Anna (Daryl), Laurice, Teresa (Carl), and Derrick; five siblings Shirley Beavers, Janice Smith, Charles Cason (Artoria), Syliva Brown (Dawn), and Lee Cason; 6 grandchildren OunJaniese, William, Gregory, Lee Anna, Jaheim, and Jamal; 12 bonus grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren Gabrelle, Aaron, Nuriah, Kennedi, Ai’lani, Amauri, and Ai’Mir and 17 bonus great- grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends.“…and all this started “Back N ‘44”…”
