William J. Casterella, a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on August 29, 1951, in Portland, Maine, William's journey through life was marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community. He spent his most memorable years in Westbrook, Maine, where he and his beloved wife Paula shared a life together for 54 years. Their enduring love was a testament to their deep bond and mutual respect, a source of inspiration for all who knew them. Together, they raised their son, Bryan, instilling in him the values of integrity and perseverance that William exemplified throughout his life. William proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force, a period in his life that shaped his character and instilled a sense of duty and honor that he carried into all his endeavors. After his military service, William dedicated over 25 years to a career with Rite Aid, where his hard work and loyalty were valued by colleagues and customers alike. His passion for sports was evident in his active participation in local softball leagues well into his early 60s. William cherished the camaraderie and competition of the game, and he found great joy in coaching his son Bryan in various sports during his childhood. His influence on the field and his guidance off it left a lasting impact on the lives of many young athletes in the community. Known for his genuine and loyal nature, William was a steadfast friend and confidant. His presence was a source of comfort and strength, and his warm smile and hearty laugh will be fondly remembered by those fortunate enough to have shared in his life. William is survived by his loving wife, Paula Casterella; his devoted son, Bryan Casterella; and his brother, James Casterella Sr., along with his nephew James Casterella Jr. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering commitment to family and friends. As we remember William, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life filled with love, laughter, and a profound sense of purpose. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Services are forthcoming.
