Mr. William P. Chuck "Catfish" Hunter, 69, of Liberty Hill passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2025. He was born July 16, 1956 in Lancaster, a son of the late William Roy Hunter and Vera Robinson Hunter.
Chuck, also known as Catfish, was a devoted South Carolina Gamecock Fan for the past 45 years, proudly supporting his team through every season. Since retiring from Duke Power, he found joy in traveling and treasured the fellowship that came with getting out and playing golf. Chuck also loved adventure, he spent over 30 years taking motorcycle trips to many different places. He especially cherished time spent at his home on the river, where he loved to entertain family and friends. Watching his grandchildren play sports brought him tremendous happiness. Chuck had a generous heart and a deep love for helping others. Whether through fundraising efforts or lending a hand to those in need, he made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. His enthusiasm for life and warm spirit will be missed by all who were blessed to call him friend. Chuck was also a member of Taylor's Grove Baptist Church.
A service to celebrate the life of Chuck will be held Sunday, October 26, 2025 at 3 p.m. at the Lancaster Funeral Home Chapel.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kim Hunter; his son, William Andy Hunter (Brittany); his daughter, Amber Barnes (Brant); two sisters, Nancy Laney and Pat Ballard; six grandchildren, Jadyn, Haven, Peyton, Brayleigh, Kayden, Whitley; and his bonus children, Darrell Taylor, Tripp Watts, Chris Estridge, Jacob Morgan, and Emily Jaillette. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Hunter.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, October 24, 2025 at the home of Amber and Brant Barnes- 1077 Cedar Hills Lane Lancaster, SC 29720.
