William R Clark, age 84 of Oregon, Ohio, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, passed away surrounded by the love of his family on Friday, January 9, 2026. A man known for his strong work ethic, generous heart, and love of the outdoors, Bill lived a life rooted in family, hard work, and dedication. You could almost always catch him with a smile on his face. Bill was born to Firmin and Mildred (Gladieux) Clark on October 24, 1941, in Oregon, Ohio. He graduated from Clay High School in 1961 and married his beautiful wife, Marsha (Eckerman), in 1963. He spent 45 years working in telecommunications before his retirement. Even in retirement, Bill never slowed down, whether pouring concrete, lending a helping hand, or working in his barn, Bill was always willing to help anyone in need.

A lifelong athlete and sports enthusiast, Bill played football at Clay High School, where he was affectionately known as “Mr. Hardnose” by his teammates and earned 1st Team All-G.L.L. and Most Valuable Back. Senior class appointed “Best Athlete”. He later played on many softball teams. Bill loved watching sports just as much as playing, and didn’t like missing any games his grandchildren competed in.

Bill had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, especially when it meant spending his time with his sons and grandchildren. He also loved big game hunting, along with deer camp trips with his family. His favorite place to hunt was the family property in Tylersburg, Pennsylvania.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Marsha; sons Christopher (Susan Cheney) Clark and Bradley (Stacy) Clark; grandchildren, Spencer (Karli) Clark, Eleanor (Andrew) Biltz, Lauren Clark, Kathrine Clark, and Grace Clark; great-grandchildren, Amelia Biltz, Jackson Dunbar, Thomas Biltz, and Isla Clark; siblings, Charles (Sheron) Clark, Nancy Skellie, Mary (Mike) Timmons, and Dan (Laurie) Clark; sister-in-law Becky Clark and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Donald Clark, grandson Tyler Dunbar, and brother-in-law Ed Skellie.

A memorial gathering will be held at Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S Wynn Rd in Oregon, Ohio, on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 3 until 6 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 6 pm.
