Neil F. Kontak

Neil F. Kontak, age 87, of Williston, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the Landings of Oregon. He was born on April 3, 1938, in Elmore, Ohio, to Frederick and Melda (Schmaltz) Kontak. Neil was a 1956 graduate of Clay High School where he was active in playing various sports. He married his wife, Betty, on November 22, 1958, and together they started their family. Neil earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering before starting his career with Toledo Scale, serving for 25 years. Neil continued working an additional 15 years at Toledo Engineering before retiring.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, and sports, especially golfing, bowling, and softball. In his spare time, he liked to go fishing, playing cards and spending time up north and in Florida. He will be dearly missed.

Neil is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Betty Kontak; children, Christine (James) Beeler, Angela (Craig) Kontak, and Kevin (Michelle) Kontak; grandchildren, Joshua (Rachel) and Matthew (Jennifer) Beeler, Jenna (Nick) Watson, Nicole (Shelby) Cousino, and Kurtis (Carson), Kyle (Lauren), Kolin and Kaleb Kontak; eight great-grandchildren, with two due in June; and his siblings, Nancy (Gary) Monto, and Douglas (Jennifer) Kontak. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Thomas Cousino; and siblings, Larry Kontak, and Marilou Uhde.

Family and friends may visit the Freck Funeral Chapel, 1155 S. Wynn Rd, in Oregon, on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., where services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Private burial will take place at Allen Twp. Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be to the Landings of Oregon Memory Care Unit, c/o Amanda Smith, in the form of Amazon Gift Cards.
