   William H. “Bill” Clarke, 72, formerly of Gates County, NC, died Friday, May 2, 2025, in Fuquay-Varina Health and Rehabilitation Center.

   Bill was born January 7, 1953, in St. Johns, Newfoundland. A graduate from Gates County High School, he then enlisted in the US Army where he served in Vietnam. After returning home, Bill attended College of the Albemarle and then worked all over the United States as a machinery designer for many years before returning to Hobbsville, North Carolina.

Surviving is his sister, Nancy Jo Clarke Meiners (husband Steve); a sister-in-law, Faye Parrish Clarke Kirshon; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Nelson, Bryce Meiners (wife Sasha), Kelly Meiners, and Ross Meiners; two grandnieces, Kaitlyn and Ava; and two grandnephews, Jackson and Christion. Also surviving Bill are his dear friends who were like family, Dale and Linda White and their son, Bryant White,

He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Thomas Clarke, Jr. and Faye Dennis Clarke, and by his brother, Thomas “Fred” Clarke, III.

A private burial will be held by the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to Vietnam Veterans of America.
