Delia Brown Newsome, 71, of Eure, NC, went to be with Jesus on August 18, 2025.
Delia was born in November 1953 in Hertford County to the late William and Maggie Brown.
She is survived by her son, Larry Newsome and his wife, Michelle; four beloved grandchildren, Braxton, Brycen, Broden, and Braelyn Newsome; her sisters, Jesse Damond, Nettie Rowe, and Linda Vaughan; her brother, Junior Brown; and many special nieces, nephews, and extended family members whom she cherished dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Newsome; her daughter, Wendy Newsome; and her sisters Catharine Rose, Peggy Dunlow, Betty Waterfield, and Virginia Chavis.
Delia will be remembered for her generous and giving spirit—always willing to share what she had to help someone in need. She was deeply loving, devoted to her family, and especially proud of her grandchildren, who were the apple of her eye.
In her younger years, Delia worked as a retail clerk at several businesses, including White’s Department Store in Ahoskie. She had a natural gift for connecting with people and enjoyed the friendships she formed with her customers. In her later years, she found joy in attending Winton Baptist Church, where she grew close to her church family; especially her dear friend, Ms. Allison Davis.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Winton Baptist Church in Winton, NC. Visitation with the family will be held before the memorial, beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. Pastor Derik Davis will be leading the service. A private burial for immediate family will take place at a later date.
The family is deeply grateful to the community for the outpouring of love, support, and kindness shown during this time. In lieu of flowers, they kindly ask that contributions be directed to support the young mother and her two sons who were injured in the accident involving Delia. Your generosity will help provide care and comfort to them as they recover. Please donate at this link: https://www.giveinkind.com/inkinds/K3W3B6Z
