William Combs Jr. Obituary
William "Bill" Hopkins Combs Jr, a proud veteran of the Army, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 27, 2023. The son of William H. and Lavernia (nee Young) Combs, Sr. Bill was born on November 29, 1948 and grew up in Batavia, Ohio. At the age of 18, Bill enlisted in the Army. He valued this service highly and valiantly fought for our country in the Vietnam War. Bill attained the rank of SP5 (t) with the specialty title of Launcher Commander.
Bill was the devoted husband of Susan (nee Schauer) Combs. Dear father of Tricia (Charles) Kincer and Donna (Mike) Poole. Loving brother of Carolyn Combs. Cherished grandfather of Nick (Ashley) Kincer, Paige Kincer, David (Erin) Gross, Michaela (Zackery) Beck, Mariea (Shawn) Thomas. Great-grandfather of Hazel Gross, Jaxson Gross, and Athena Thomas. Uncle of Tammy Schmidt and Tim Combs. Also survived by his loving dog, Scruffy.
A service honoring the life of Bill will be held at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 4312 Amelia Olive Branch Rd, Batavia, OH on Monday, November 6, 2023 from 6PM until time of service 7PM. Moore Family Funeral Homes assisting the family. Please consider memorials to Disabled American Veterans (www.dav.org).
