Age 74 passed away Friday, March 7,2025 at Sayre Health Care Center following declining health. Born on June 26, 1950 in Troy, Pa: son of the late, Robert & Elizabeth Walker Congdon. Although he had a disability, Billy accomplished much during his life. He was a lifetime member of the South Creek Volunteer Fire Department with 58 years of membership. Volunteering as a fire fighter and helping with building maintenance brought him great pleasure. He spent hundreds of hours preparing the hall for weekly Bingo games when he was younger and physically able. Billy and his mother enjoyed many years of camping at Bucktail Campgrounds in Mansfield, Pa., where he helped with activities there. In his younger years he spent time in the community helping at Sheddens Wholesale & Auction Barn, and Pete Owens Gas Station in Fassett. He found great pleasure being with his grandparents on their beef farm and having all family members together and especially relaxing on the banks of south creek with his fishing pole. He enjoyed processing meat with his father, grandfather, and brother. Billy enjoyed music and dancing. He was treasured by his community and was a friend to all. Later in life he could be found sitting in front of his home waving at all who passed by on Rt. 14. Billy is survived by his sister, Debbie (James) Glose; cousin and caregiver, DeEtta (Glenn) Antes; nephews; Arthur (Michelle) Congdon; Robert (Alana) Congdon; Joey (Robin) Congdon; Shawn (Ashley) Congdon; nieces, Terah (Jim) Ramsey; Tiffany (Ryan) Glose-Davidson; 6 great nephews and 6 great nieces; aunt, Dolly Congdon; cousins, Regina Miller and DeLecia Plouse. In addition to his parents, Billy was predeceased by brother, Arthur James Congdon. Family and friends will be received at Caywoods Funeral Home and Gardens on Saturday, March 15, 2025 between the hours of 12 (noon) – 2 p.m. A firemen's service by the South Creek Fire Dept. and funeral service officiated by Rev. Mickey Cavanaugh will follow at 2:15 p.m. Private burial will be held later at the convenience of the family in the Gillett Cemetery.
