ROCKINGHAM — William Jerry Covington, 75, of Rockingham, passed away Wednesday August 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was a son of the late Buck and Sarah Covington and was born January 2, 1950, in Hamlet, NC.
Jerry was a graduate of Hamlet High School and later East Carolina University, where he ran track. He graduated from ECU with his bachelor's and in 1980 would own and operate his store "Sport Cycles" in Rockingham. Jerry was an avid athlete and enjoyed snow-skiing, sky diving and skeet-shooting.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Covington; children Kim Covington (Daniel Thomas) and Keith Covington; grandchildren Logan Thomas, Colbie Covington and Molly Covington; a sister, Debbie Moorehead and many friends all of whom will miss him dearly.
The family will receive friends for visitation at Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham from 2-3:30 p.m. Sunday, August 10, 2025. A graveside service will be held at Richmond County Memorial Park at 4 p.m. with Rev. Chris Leak officiating.
