Cowboy was born on May 4, 1934, in Nashville, Tennessee. He attended Antioch High School and graduated in 1953. He was voted neatest of his class.

After completing his education, Cowboy embarked on a fulfilling career in tractor trailer repairs. For many years, he worked to ensure the smooth operation of these vehicles. His dedication and expertise were greatly appreciated by all who relied on his skills.

Outside of work, had a deep love for adventure and travel. Together with his wife Helen, they explored vast expanses of North America in their trusty van. From coast to coast in the United States and even journeys through Canada, they reveled in the beauty of nature and the freedom of the open road. Camping became a cherished pastime for them both—a way to immerse themselves fully in their surroundings and create lasting memories. In his younger days, Cowboy also enjoyed hunting and fishing—activities that further fueled his connection with the great outdoors.
