William "Jay" Crooks

William "Jay" Crooks Age 66, of Cumberland, WI, died Tuesday, January 30, 2024 in Eau Claire, WI. He was born on April 15, 1957 in Terre Haute, Indiana to George and Patricia (White) Crooks. Jay entered the United States Navy in 1974 and served during the Vietnam Era and was Honorably Discharged in 1976. He was married to Nancy Huston July 12, 2002 in Rice Lake, WI. Jay was a laborer during his whole life. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, 4 wheeling and spending time with his dogs. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Crooks; 2 stepchildren, Patrick (Kris) Dirkes and Jessica Dirkes (Brandon Lee); 3 step grandchildren, Brandon Lee, Braxton Lee and Briella Lee; a sister, Patricia Crooks; a nephew, Cameron Crooks. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Patricia Crooks; a brother, Kane Crooks. Graveside Services will be held at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI at a later date. Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI is assisting and serving the family with the arrangements.
