PALMER - William (Bill) Curtin 83, of Palmer Ma. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, after a short illness. He was born March 14, 1942 in Northampton MA to Howard and Alice (Rubeck) Curtin. Bill attended early schooling with the Nuns at Florence Annunciation Grammar School where he was learned on another use of rulers! Later he enrolled and attended Smith Vocational School. After school, he enlisted into service with the Air Force. Unfortunately, due to vision issues, he was Honorably Discharged from the service. He enjoyed bowling and was pretty good at it. He played in a bowling league at the old Florence Bowling Alley. He also loved playing cards, gardening, feeding and watching the birds, and puttering around the house. Traveling to his favorite location in Gloucester, MA. was always a yearly if not bi-annual vacation. His love of sports prompted him to help coach Little League Baseball and later continued to support his daughter and sons and now granddaughters in their sporting ventures. And of course, a loyal and avid fan of the N.E. Patriots, Boston Red Sox and the Boston Bruins. Bill worked for many years at the Northampton Department of Public Works, then later at the University of Massachusetts where he retired from. He is greatly missed by his children; Lisa Harding of Sprakers, NY., William (Bill) Curtin Jr. of Deerfield MA, Matthew (Jesse) Curtin of Easthampton, MA and Jackie Froidl of House Springs, MO. His grandchildren, Duane Harding and Jacob (Jude) Harding, Alex (Nora) Curtin, Sydney Curtin and Jonathan Curtin. Great grandchildren Skyann and Grace Curtin and Lincoln and Aubree Harding. Nieces Jayne (James) McInnis of Billerica and Judy (Mark) Baribeault of Texas. Bill is pre-deceased by his parents Howard and Alice Curtin, brother Robert (Iris) Curtin, sister Ellen (William) Chapin, son in law Robert Froidl, grandson Shawn Curtin, niece Susan and her husband Robert Call. There will be no calling hours. Family will hold private services for Bill and burial will take place at a later date at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Northampton.
