William Joseph (Papa Bill) Dalton III
Bill, 83, passed peacefully March 21, 2024 surrounded by loving family.
Son of William and Edna, he was born in Orange, NJ on November 13th 1940.
Bill graduated from McQuaid Jesuit (Class of '58) and Connecticut College. He was an English & History teacher at the Harley School between 1971-1998. Prior to his time at Harley, Bill taught at Greens Farms Academy and Cherry Lawn in CT. At Harley he directed plays, ran tech crew and coached. He helped develop a passion for theatre in his students as well as many memories with his Ratz Stage Crew. He will be remembered as a gentle man with a gift for teaching young people.
Along with his family and teaching, his passions included books, movies, the Boston Red Sox and spending time each summer on Frye Island. In his younger days Bill spent a lot of time around horses and at 70, celebrated this milestone birthday at a Dude Ranch. As a life-long learner, Bill enjoyed time with family and friends discussing literature and will be fondly remembered as an inquisitive soul that delighted in sharing perspectives around character development in various works of literature.
Survived by his wife, Kathleen Sisson, children Courtney (Roger) Gray Milton, MA; Paul (Jordan L'Moore) Oakland, CA; Erin (Kevin) Owens Fairport, NY; Carey Sisson (Dan Dykens) Pittsford, NY; Paul Sisson (Ellen Lukens) Chevy Chase, MD. Twelve grandchildren, Saoirse, Victoria, Abigail, Isabelle, Carson, Hannah, Aidan, Phoebe Charlie, Paul, Kelly and Olivia; Sisters: Kathleen Sibley, CA and Carol Beach, CT. Sisters-in-law: Ann Corrigan, AZ, Janet Corrigan (Vahé Kazandjian), AZ and nieces and nephews.
Bill made an anatomical gift to U of R Medical Center. All are invited to attend a memorial at St. Anne's Church 1600 Mt. Hope Ave. 14620 on April 20 at 10am. Reception immediately following.
