William P. Datlenko, age 54, passed away on January 28, 2022. He was born in Cleveland on September 25, 1967 to Gary and Grace (Sawyer) Datlenko.

Bill was employed with Patriot Consulting Technology Group (his dream job!), and was a former employee for over 11 years at Akron Children's Hospital. He was a long time sports fan of the Cleveland Browns and University of Virginia basketball. Bill's hobbies included being a Ham radio operator and interest in nuclear science, cosmology and astronomy. He was a longtime admirer of British television, and enjoyed reading, and music of all kinds, including jazz and alternative. Bill was also a Boy Scout Camp Master, and a football and basketball referee. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Bill always had a large capacity for love, and along with Merilee loved many children and friends as if they were family. He also was accepting and loving of many strange people (You know who you are.)

Bill was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul and Helen Datlenko and Willis and Helen Sawyer; uncle, Wayne Sawyer, aunt, Gail Datlenko; father-in-law, James Nestor; and dear friends, Kathy Berkheimer, Ben Rose and Justin Weirauch. He is survived by his wife, Merilee Datlenko; daughter, Lucinda "Gracie" Datlenko Davis and son-in-law, Kori Davis; daughter, Mary Datlenko and her fiancé, Gary Noe Jr.; father, Gary Datlenko, mother, Grace Datlenko; niece, Olivia Walker; nephew, Ken Walker; brother, Chuck Datlenko; niece, Kelli Datlenko; nephew, Tony Jones; brother, Eric Datlenko; sister-in-law, Melissa Datlenko; nephew, Matthew Datlenko; mother-in-law, Lucinda Nestor and her fiancé, Tom Zercher; brother-in-law, Mark Nestor; sister-in-law, Alicia Nestor; and nephews, Justin and Jacob Nestor.

Friends and family will be received for visitation on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St. in Wadsworth. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 7th, with Pastor David McGrath officiating. Facial coverings are required at all services. Burial will follow at Wooster Cemetery.

I just found out about Bill's passing. I had the pleasure of working with Bill for 7 years ago the hospital, and was a man full of love of others, and had an unbelievably contagious laugh.
