William Edward Davidson, "Sonny" as his closest of family and friends called him was born, January 17, 1933, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, a son of the late Hackney Thomas Davidson and Sarah Neely Williams. Sonny was a graduate of State Street High School playing on the varsity basketball team. As a faithful member of Taylor Chapel AME Church, he served as a Trustee Emeritus and was a Prayer Warrior. Sonny was the first black licensed Life of Georgia Insurance Agent serving in this capacity for over 15 years. He also retired from the Bowling Green City School System. Sonny enjoyed many things, such as spending time with family and friends, westerns, gardening, canning, cooking, and of course baking. A loving and devoted husband to his wife Goldie Outlaw, a cherished and providing father to his daughters, a role model and friend to all he met, that is how we shall remember Sonny Davidson.
On Saturday, April 20, 2024, just as the morning sun started to rise, Sonny answered his call at the generous age of 91 years. Those preceding him in death along with his parents are his daughter, Beverly Jean Davidson, brothers and sisters, Katherine Offutt, Mary Louise Jenkins, Karl Davidson, Leonard Davidson, Hackney T. Davidson, Dorothy Smith and Gonzella Johnson.
To cherish the memory of William "Sonny" Davidson he leaves his wife of 63 years, Goldie Outlaw Davidson; daughter, Karen Anita Dearing; 3 grandchildren, Jonathan, De'Mond, Brian; 7 great grandchildren, Cassandra, De'Mond, Jr., Christian, Bre'Ann, Keeley, Jonathan,
Ahliyah; 3 Great Great Grandchildren, Madeline, Justin, Kounta. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Sincerely,
-Your friends at Burnam and Son
