William John Dawson, Jr. Jr.

William John Dawson Jr., known widely as Billy to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 4, 2025, at his home in Mount Prospect. Born on May 12, 1965, in Evanston, Billy's charismatic nature touched all who knew him.

A proud graduate of Evanston Township High School's class of 1983, he was known for his athletic prowess and the ability to make others feel seen. Even as life led him to new places, he continued to be a fixture in the Evanston community. Everywhere you went, someone knew of 'Billy D.'

Billy was preceded in death by his father, William John Dawson Sr., with whom he now shares a joyful reunion. He is survived by his wife, Risa; daughters, Kendall and Janae; his mother, Carrie; aunt, Marilyn née Dawson, Brown; his uncle, Derrick Brown; nieces, Amanda, Jessica, and Lauren Mackey; his nephew and godson, Evan Mackey; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends who will miss him deeply.

The Dawson family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the community for their support during this time.

Memorial Service, Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 11 a.m., at St. Simon's Episcopal Church, 717 W. Kirchhoff Rd., Arlington Heights, IL 60005.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
