Obituary of William D. Deitrich

William D. Deitrich, 86, passed away December 10, 2025, at Saint Anne's Retirement Community in Columbia, PA, where he had resided for a little over a year. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Elwood and Alberta (Blough) Deitrich.

Bill served his country in the Navy, 1957-1961, and in the Army, 1961-1964. He also was a prison guard at Graterford Prison and later retired from Norristown State Hospital.

Bill lived most of his life in the Norristown area. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and pool player. He was a fan of UCONN Women's basketball and the Brooklyn and LA Dodgers baseball teams. Bill loved music and amassed a huge collection of CDs and vinyl.

Bill is survived by a sister, Suzanne Deitrich (Robert Weston), Milton, Delaware, a brother, Gilbert Deitrich (Sally), Columbia, and sister-in-law Rita (Hupper) Deitrich, Boothwyn. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert E. Deitrich.

Services and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. If desired, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38108.
