William J. "Bill/Billy" Delaney, 68, of Worcester, passed unexpectedly on Monday June 5, 2023 at his residence.
He was predeceased by his parents, the late William J. Delaney, Jr. and Margaret A. (Brennan) Delaney. Bill leaves behind his children, Erin Delaney and Joseph Delaney, and 2 granddaughters; his siblings, Mary Ellen O'Donnell and her husband Brian of West Hartford, CT, Margery Delaney of Auburn, Thomas Delaney and his wife Andrea of Manomet, Hannah Weinstein and her husband Schmuel of Jerusalem, Israel, and Timmy Delaney of Worcester; 15 nieces and nephews, 23 great-nieces and nephews, and his close friends Kevin, Bob, and Mark.
Born in Worcester and raised in Auburn, Bill attended Auburn elementary schools and Auburn Junior High School before attending St. Peter's High School in Worcester, and graduating in 1972. During this time, he played hockey for St. Peter's High. He also played Little League baseball and hockey in Auburn town leagues when he was young.
Bill had a long career as a Medical Records Clerk at UMASS Memorial Hospital and St. Vincent Hospital, retiring in 2009 due to illness. He also worked for many years as a Machinist for the Norton Company.
He had many hobbies and interests, such as watching the Bruins, Red Sox, or Patriots games. He enjoyed many outdoor activities such as hiking in Central Massachusetts and the White Mountains, fishing, riding his Harley Davidson, and studying astronomy. Bill also loved supporting his brother Timmy at his Special Olympics tournaments.
Bill will be dearly missed by his friends and family, but will always be remembered.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Delaney family from 2 – 4 PM on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central St., Auburn. Service and burial will be held privately. To leave a note of condolence for his family, please visit http://brittonfuneralhomes.com
