Munden Funeral Home & Crematory - Morehead CityWilliam "Bill" Joseph Denault, 76, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Pruitt Health - Neuse in New Bern.
A memorial mass to honor Bill’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 19th at St. Egbert Catholic Church.
Bill was born on October 11, 1949, in Arlington, Massachusetts to the late Timothy and Murial Denault. Raised in Massapequa, Long Island, Bill fell in love with the water. He was most at peace when smelling salt air and with a fishing pole or clam rake in hand.
Bill majored in Biology at SUNY Plattsburgh where he met the love of his life, Sara Galvin Denault. Bill earned a degree in Underwater Technology at Florida Institute of Technology and moved to North Carolina to work for Duke University Medical Center, F.G. Hall Hyperbaric Laboratory.
In 1982, Bill’s love of the coast drew him and Sara to Morehead City, NC and they have called it home ever since. Bill worked in Civil Service at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point for 34 years until his retirement in July 2019.
Bill loved holding a baby and spending a day in the sound with the grandkids. Bill loved cooking dinner for Sara and surprising her with grocery store flowers. Bill liked talking with people about NC State sports and Bill loved the Lord.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his beloved wife who Bill adored, Sara Denault. He fiercely loved his daughters, Teri Denault Page and Lauren Denault Hunt, and was so proud of the families they've created with Jeremy Page and Graham Hunt. His greatest joy in life were his 5 grandchildren, Liam, Rosie, and Caeli Page, and Smith and Noah Hunt. Pops always smiled biggest when hearing of their many adventures or sports triumphs.
Bill is also survived by his sisters, Susan Denault and Lorraine Denault and his brother, Richard Denault (Dody).
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Tim Denault.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Egbert Catholic School (stegbert.org), 1705 Evans St., Morehead City, NC 28557 or Martha's Mission Cupboard, Inc (marthasmission.com), P.O. Box 603, Morehead City, NC 28557.
