Devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and friend, William Clancy Denny Jr., 94, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 25, 2025, at St. Dominic Hospital. A private family service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at St. Joseph's Catholic School Chapel. Followed by a graveside service at Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
Bill was born August 22, 1930 to William Clancy Denny Sr. and Kitty Mitchell Robinson in Baltimore, Maryland and grew up in Washington, D.C. While serving in the United States Air Force, Bill met the love of his life, Sue Johnsey Denny during the Korean War when stationed in her hometown. They married April 19, 1952 and later moved to Jackson in 1963. Bill had a career in banking as a Banking Executive for 35 years. Bill then served in the Mississippi House of Representatives as a Republican from 1988 to 2020. Bill enjoyed playing golf with friends and loved watching his grandchildren transcend in sports. In his later years, watching his grandsons play ball at Ole Miss brought him great joy.
Bill was very passionate in his career and was loved by many. He was a great storyteller and would captivate the room with his exemplary stories and conversations. Bill was a devoted husband and father to his family and Christian faith. He served his beloved state of Mississippi in a variety of key roles during his time in the Mississippi House, notably authoring legislation to create CCID and overseeing redistricting. He was also the House Republican Majority Leader. Bill led a joyous existence that will forever be embedded in many lives.
Survivors include his children: Anne (Sweetie) Piazza (Sam), Kitty Howell, William C. (Billy) Denny III (Debbie), Sally Dobbs (David). Grandchildren include: Travis Pope, Clancy Piazza Longgrear (Zach), Ryan Eaves (Brooke), Lesley Howell Herring (Dru), Kristy Howell, Will Denny (Kristen), Matt Denny (Katie), Kristen Dobbs Mosely (Shane), Ashley Dobbs, Lindsey Dobbs. Eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Dear Sweetie, Kitty, Billy and Sally, My family has such sweet memories of your Dad and Mom and each of you! My Mom and Dad , Martha and Harold Sims , Myself (Sharon) , Debbie and Tommy were your back yard neighbors! We shared many memories of playing baseball in our backyards and our parents played golf together at Colonial Country Club together. We all were friends and had the good blessings of growing up with sweet loving parents who loved us and nurtured us to succeed in life ! Those were the virtues we want for our children and grandchildren! Good times with the Denny Family! Praying for each of you and your families ! Love, Sharon Sims Hust
