William Deramus Obituary In Loving Memory Of
William V. Deramus, known to his family and friends as 'Grandad,' peacefully entered his eternal home with Jesus on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. A man of deep faith and a true example of godliness, William was a dedicated member of The Porch Church, where he served faithfully as a deacon, as he had also done at Union Mission Church. Born on December 25, 1937, in Cherry Hill, Arkansas, William was the cherished son of Richard and Daisy Deramus. On May 24, 1957, he married his beloved wife, Belva Wagner, and together they built a beautiful life, sharing 67 years of love, hard work, and adventure.
Williams warmth, kindness, and generosity left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. Originally from Mena, he later moved to Fort Smith after retirement to be closer to his family. Over the years, he wore many hats, from running log trucks and raising chickens and cattle to thriving in his career as a Farm Bureau Agent. For 40 years, he served as the Polk County Farm Bureau Manager, where he became known as a skilled businessman and a 'jack of all trades.' William loved working on his John Deere tractor and was a dedicated member of the Elks, the 6 Mile Deer Camp, and organized the annual hunting event to Colorado for the 'Wild Bill Hunting Trip.'
William was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his cherished wife, Belva Deramus; his children, Ricky Deramus and wife Connie of Lavaca, and Vesti Medford and husband Shane of Fort Smith; his grandchildren, Hunter Medford and wife Ashton of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Graceann Medford of Fort Smith, Ryan Deramus, and Amber Harmon, both of Lavaca; two great-grandsons Huxlee and Chisum Medford of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; his sister Janie Hicks of Mena; and a special niece, Kathi Miner and husband Gary of Mena; special nephew Ronnie Wagner and wife Lisa of Mena. William is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Daisy Deramus, and his in-laws, Tom and Pauline Wagner. His legacy of love, faith, and kindness lives on through his family and all those he touched.
