William "Bill" Derbyshire

1946 - 2024

William "Bill" Derbyshire, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on February 3, 2024, at the age of 77. He was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, but has lived in Slidell for the last 50+ years. He was born on December 18, 1946, to his loving parents, the late Harold Robert "Bob" Derbyshire and Inez "Suggie" Derbyshire. Bill was the beloved husband of 33 years to Cynthia "Cindy" Derbyshire; cherished father of Monique Sharp (Joshua), Cory Derbyshire (Danielle), Michelle Bertucci, Rachael Lemoine, and Stacey Derbyshire (David); very proud grandfather, affectionately called "PawPaw", to Mckinley Ward, Braylen Ward, Mallory Ward, Boston Sharp, Alaina Derbyshire, Justin Lemoine, Kaitlin Lemoine, Lauren Bertucci, Derrin Daughtry, and Cameron Daughtry; and treasured brother of Robert Derbyshire. He also leaves behind a host of extended family members and friends all of whom he loved greatly. Bill bravely served with the New Orleans Police Department until retirement. He continued his professional career working for the New Orleans District Attorney's office. He then worked in Corporate Security at local banks until retirement from Hancock Whitney Bank. He was a life-long member of the Fraternal Order of Police and was a huge football fan of the New Orleans Saints. Bill was very skilled at woodworking and was an expert of Oldies music. He was known as "Mr. Fix It" to his family and friends and he loved to help everyone with needed repairs. Bill will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
