William Doyle "Bill" Dowdy Jr

William Doyle "Bill" Dowdy, Jr., 71, of Americus, Georgia peacefully passed away at home surrounded by family after a battle with Parkinson's, Tuesday afternoon, August 12, 2025. Bill was the husband of Stacy Hester Dowdy to whom he affectionately referred to as "Dirt Girl". He was born April 9, 1954 in Americus, to Ivey Jean Hunt-Dowdy and the late William D. Dowdy, Sr.

Bill enjoyed music, cherished time with his family, loved being outdoors and took great pleasure driving his Kubota tractor through his pine tree forest.

Survivors include his children, Stacy Walls (Philip), Stephanie Smith and Doyle Dowdy (Jennifer), bonus daughter Arry Miller (Cody); Grandchildren, Danielle (Austin) Rouse, Jonathan (Kali) Walls, Justin (Kaylee) Walls, Ellis Smith, Russ Smith, Milly Dowdy; Aiden, Skylar and Scarlett "Punkin" Miller; great-grandchildren, Noah Rouse, Penny Walls, Jonah Rouse; sister, Debbie Oder (Randy) and a brother, Tony Dowdy (Cynthia). In addition to his father, Bill was preceded in death by his special Aunt Bootsie (Barbara Dowdy Hay).

The family will be celebrating his life Sunday August 17, 2025 at 3pm at Cheek Memorial Baptist Church.
