William "Bill" Nimon Downer, 80, of Vienna, passed away peacefully on Jan. 22, 2024, in his home, with his family by his side.
He was born on March 13, 1943, to the late William and Kathryn Zimmer Downer.
He was preceded in death by brothers, George, Franklin and Rodman "Bud" Snyder, and sister, Martha Krupinski.
William is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Tara Rogers Downer of Vienna; five children, Kathy Downer of Wheeling, William Downer of Wheeling, Jordan (Lavana) Downer of Vienna, Jacob Downer of Huntington, and Jaime (Zak) Broadwater of Parkersburg; twelve grandchildren, Rob (Carrie) Downer of Wheeling, Tyler Coffield of Benwood, Amanda McPherson, Brady Bippus and Tiffany Minor all of Wheeling, Abigail, Michala and Josiah Broadwater all of Parkersburg, Jonah, Jace and Jillian Downer all of Huntington and Coraline Downer of Vienna; six great-grandchildren, Hailey and Clayton Downer of Wheeling, Wyatt, Sadie and Liam Coffield of Benwood and Brayden Barbe of Wheeling.
He retired from the Bureau of Public Debt. William was a craftsman who enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family. He was a prankster and a great storyteller that loved to make people laugh.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna with Pastor Don Yeager officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-7:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
