LAGRANGE - William L. "Bill" Dunafin, 78, of LaGrange, Indiana, died on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, at Orchard Pointe Health Campus, Kendallville, Indiana.
He was born on Aug. 13, 1946, son of the late, Robert Lee and Gloria J. (Frutig) Dunafin.
Bill was a lifetime LaGrange resident. He was in the last graduating class from LaGrange High School, Class of 1964.
After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1966, and served until 1970. During his Air Force service, he was the crew chief of the B52 bomber 61-0036, which is still flying today.
On May 17, 1969, in LaGrange, Indiana, he married Jan E. Jollief. She preceded Bill in death on March 13, 1993.
Bill worked for Burr Oak Tool & Die in Sturgis, Michigan, from 1980, until his retirement in 2009. He worked as the shipping and receiving supervisor for many years.
He was a member of LaGrange American Legion Post #215, Meridian Sun Lodge F&AM #76, LaGrange County Shrine Club and Mizpah Shrine.
Bill was also an avid Cleveland Indian's Fan.
Surviving Bill are his two sons, Shawn (Laura) Dunafin, of Kendallville, Indiana, and Shane Dunafin, of LaGrange, Indiana; three grandchildren, Aidan Dreibelbis, Kaitlyn Dunafin and Molly Dunafin; and a brother, Robert "Bob" (Louise) Dunafin, of Wolcottville, Indiana.
A visitation will be held at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange, Indiana, on Friday, Dec. 13, 2024, from 4-7 p.m.
A 7 p.m. Masonic Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday.
Private family graveside services will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange, Indiana.
