William Roy Elrod

William Roy "Bill" Elrod beloved father and grandfather passed away peacefully at the Veteran's Home in Oxford, Mississippi on December 4, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on October 2, 1943, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, Bill lived a life marked by hard work and a deep love for family. For many years, Bill was a valued and dedicated employee of the Boilermakers Local 263 serving as a boilermaker, business agent, and international representative. His commitment to the job was unwavering and fostered lasting relationships with colleagues who admired his work ethic and character. In addition to his career, Bill was an avid crappie fisherman spending countless hours on the lakes of North Mississippi. In addition to fishing, Bill created lifelong memories hunting with his son and grandsons. In later years, you could find bill drinking coffee with his friends or "supervising" any number of projects that his son or grandsons were doing. Bill leaves behind a loving family who will carry forward his legacy. He is survived by his son, Robbie Elrod and wife Leeann of Hernando, MS; daughter Angela Elrod of Southaven, MS; sister Penny Hylander and husband Johnny of Southaven MS; and grandsons, Ryan Elrod, (Amie) and Matt Elrod, both of Hernando, who were a source of immense pride and joy for him. Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Mary Jane (Janie) Elrod; sister Patricia Elrod, and his parents Ernest and Ellen Elrod (Southaven MS). His spirit will remain in the hearts of those who knew him, forever a source of memories. The family will be receiving friends Tuesday, December 9, from 11-12 am with services to follow at 12 pm. Interment to follow at Hernando Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be sent to the Veterans Home.
