Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 28, 2025.
William Evan (Bill) Homer, 83, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, in Petaluma, California. A devoted family man, accomplished writer, and passionate historian, Bill had deep commitment to his faith and his community.

Bill was born May 20,1942, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Evan Molburn and Julia Alta Andrus. He attended Sandy Elementary, Mt. Jordan Jr High, graduating from Jordan High School. He furthered his education and graduated from Brigham Young University.

Bill built a career as a realtor and property manager. He had experience in public relations reflecting his ability to communicate effectively. He was an avid journal keeper and writer who found joy in preserving the past for future generations.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bill's faith was central to his identity. He dedicated his time to church service and community projects that reflected his devotion. From 1960-1962, he served as a missionary in the Great Lakes Mission. In 1972 he married Linda Louise Adams, later divorced. In the 1990s, he played a key role in assisting San Francisco's celebration of the ship "Brooklyn," an event commemorating early Latter-day Saint pioneers who arrived in California by sea. He received an award from the Brooklyn (the ship) Historical Society, as they used part of his screen play for the musical he composed about the Brooklyn. His passion for this history led to co-authoring the book "California Saints" which earned him recognition from the San Francisco Historical Society. He had 3 other manuscripts for books he wanted to publish.

Bill's love for music, included playing the piano and singing with "The Young Ambassadors". He loved sports whether participating or watching. As a great storyteller, he could captivate an audience with tales from both personal experience and historical research.

Family was at the heart of everything Bill did. He is survived by his children, Laurie Faulk (David), Evan (Bridget), Dorothy Galbraith (Reed), Emily Turk, Nick (Arlett), his siblings Leah Nagata (Terry), Dianne Byers (Lonnie), Kent (Camille), Paul (Susan), Don (Janie), Julie Phillips, Chad (Stephany) and Kaylene Homer, 21 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his granddaughter Carmen Galbraith.

Bill's legacy lives on by the lives he touched with words written or spoken across dinner tables. Through the enduring bonds of family, he helped nurture generations.

A Memorial Service for Bill will be held on September 20, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Mount Jordan 3rd Ward chapel, 8950 S 400 E, Sandy Utah.
