William Farley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Legacy Options Funeral and Cremation Services, LLC - Naples on Jan. 21, 2026.
William "Bill" Marshall Farley, 71, of Sunapee, New Hampshire, passed away on January 13, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. A man of quiet strength, unwavering integrity, and deep devotion to his family. Bill leaves behind a legacy defined by hard work and an enduring love for those he held dear. His smile was effervescent and could light up a room.

Born on October 29, 1954 in Washington, DC to John Farley and Jeanne Marie Farley. Bill grew up with a spirit of adventure and became an Eagle Scout with Boy Scouts of America. He moved from Mclean, Virginia to Sunapee, New Hampshire at the age of 16 to complete his last two years of high school in Sunapee.

Bill was a man who found joy in the simple and enduring things. He was a fierce competitor in soccer and rose to play at high levels in Italy. He was a scuba diver, loved golf, biked and kayaked for miles at a time. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and outdoorsman who shared these moments with his family. He found peace and solace outdoors and would sit for long lengths of time listening to his favorite music, watching wildlife or just absorbing the view. He adored his dogs and always had a faithful four-legged companion by his side. He and his wife worked on the land and saved a cabin in the Sutton, New Hampshire woods that now stands as a testament to their love and hard work.

Above all, Bill was a family man. He met the love of his life, Sherry Robillard, in 1972 while still in high school, and together they built a home filled with love and laughter. They had two children, son Michael and daughter Jennifer. He held tight to his faith and truly believed that a life with love is a life that's been lived.

A proud patriot, Bill answered the call of duty and served in the United States Air Force with multiple overseas assignments. He served with honor and retired as a Master Sergeant, earning multiple medals and commendations over his 21 years in uniform. His time as a serviceman took him around the world with his family.

Following his service, Bill continued to work and travel in Japan, Guam, and Saudi Arabia.

Bill is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Sherry Farley; his children, Michael (and Miglena) Farley and Jennifer (and James) Oelke Farley; his cherished grandchildren, Brayden, Indiya, and Simona; and his siblings John (Carol) Farley, Lynn (Dennis) Wiggins, and Kevin (Kathy) Farley and his brother-in-law Robert Farrenkopf. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Sharon "Missy" Farrenkopf.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Alzheimer's Disease Research.
