William "Bill" E Fleming, age 81 of Zanesville, died, Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Genesis Hospital following a two year illness. He was born Friday, September 29, 1944, in Philadelphia, PA the son of Charles A. Fleming and Clara M. (Struck) Fleming. He married Carolyn A. (Freiermuth) Fleming on Saturday, November 13, 1965.
Bill retired following many years of service with AK Steel. In his younger years he enjoyed playing softball. He was an avid golfer and bowler and holds the city record for high series bowling score of 879. Bill was a member of American Legion Post 29, where he serviced as 1st Vice, and a former member of Eagle Arie 302. Bill was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who cherished the time he spent with his family.
In addition to his wife of over 60 years, Carolyn Fleming, Bill is survived by one daughter, Mary (Rodney) Paxson; two grandchildren, Ashley (Andrew) Melvin and Andrew "Andy" Paxson; four great grandchildren, Lucas Melvin, Kaden Nicholson, Colin Melvin, McKenna Paxson; two brothers, Chuck Fleming and Delmar Fleming; one sister & brother-in-law, Marilyn (Millard) Metcalf, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Fleming and Roger Fleming.
