William Seth (Bill) Fountain, Sr, a beloved resident of Walton County, Florida, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away June 13, 2025. Born on September 5, 1939, to MT Fountain and Amelia B Fountain, Bill spent his life in Walton County and lived a life that proudly exemplified his love for the area he called home. Demonstrated in the 25 years he served as Property Appraiser for Walton County, Bill began the position in 1975, and he remained in service to the county until 2000. He was proud of the opportunity to have an integral part of serving his community.

On November 19, 1964, Bill married the love of his life, Joyce. They were blessed with 61 years of marriage, and he was the epitome of a husband, always putting Joyce first and remaining devoted to treasuring her. Their life and the family they built together brought Bill great joy. He treasured times he got to spend with his children, grandchildren, and Joyce.

A lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of DeFuniak Springs, Bill faithfully served the church as a Deacon and an Elder. He had served on the Session Board as well. His eagerness to serve his church and congregation was a great example of his dedication to his faith, and it served as an encouragement and motivation to all those around him.

Bill loved farming, and, as many got to experience in time spent with him, he had an insatiable passion for horses. Having horses during most of his life, he took advantage of every opportunity possible to spend time riding, roping, and camping. Camping at Coldwater Resort was Bill’s favorite source of rest and relaxation for weeks at a time, and he greatly enjoyed trail rides with friends from both near and far. For many years, he was also always accompanied by his best lil buddy, KayTee, a mini-Australian Shepherd, who never left his side.

Bill leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years, Joyce Fountain, son Billy Fountain, Jr., daughters Brenda Young and Janet Martin (Gary), 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, and sister Margueritte Reese.

He is preceded in death by his parents, MT Fountain and Amelia B Fountain, and siblings - Annette Johnson, Jannette Cramer, Tolmie Fountain, and Guy Fountain.

Bill lived in such a way that his principles and the things he loved the most were evident in every aspect of his life. He was incredibly special to so many, and memories will be treasured by those who knew and loved him for many generations to come.

A time of visitation is scheduled for Friday, June 20, 2025, from 10:00am-11:00am at First Presbyterian Church in DeFuniak Springs. Funeral service will begin at 11:00am with Reverend Cathy Mooney officiating.

Pallbearers are Levi Fountain, Gary Martin, Cody Reddick, Lamar Myles, David Johnson, and Corey Galloway. Honorary pallbearers are Greg Lathinghouse, David Owens, Benton Southard, Keenan Powell, Patrick Pilcher, and Mark Anderson.

Flowers are being accepted, but the family would also be honored by donations made in Bill’s memory to First Presbyterian Church Building Funds.
