William Franklin "Frank" Dillon of Weirton passed away at his residence after a lengthy illness with his loving wife Audrey at his side. He was eighty-six years old.
He was born in a small town in West Virginia known as Central Station, on April 18, 1936. Frank was one of three born to Walter and Hazel Dye Dillon.
Frank was a proud member of the United States Army and was educated in the Doddridge County School System. He was a member of the Weirton Steel Twenty-five-year club and retired from the Weirton Steel Corporation with thirty-eight years of faithful service as a pipe-fitter. Audrey always knew how to put a smile on Frank's face, he was treated to the best retirement present, drawing much envy from his colleagues.
The Love of his life was Ms. Audrey Cooper Dillon. She made herself known to him from an early age and as anyone knows Audrey, she was not taking no for an answer. She referred to Frank as a "Wonderful Man, The best man she could have ever had!" They quickly fell in love and were married on April 18, 1959. Frank agreed to the date because it was his birthday, making it easier for him to remember their anniversary.
As their love grew stronger, it was evident to everyone who knew them that if they saw Frank, Audrey was right there with him, and vice versa, they did everything together. They enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, crafting, and of course their garden. A lifetime of love and respect for each other will live on and transcend through their family and friends.
A sad day for Audrey, "not what I wanted, it's what God chose."
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his brother Clarence " Gene" Dillon and sister Stella Dean Jenkins.
Remembering Frank with the utmost love and affection is his wife Audrey of sixty-three years, their "adopted daughter", Trudy, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with Frank's family at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton on Wednesday, March 22, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm where services will be held on Thursday, March 23, at 11 am.
Pastor James Rhodes will officiate.
Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
