William Raymond Freese, 78, of La Porte, IN, passed away on January 12, 2025 at Franciscan Health - Crown Point.

William was born on January 14, 1946 in La Porte, IN, to Clifford and Margaret (Gallo) Freese.

On June 20, 1970, in La Porte, IN, he married Barbara Ebert who survives. Also surviving are his 3 children, David (Amy) Porter of La Porte, Jerry Porter of La Porte, and Tammy (Chris) Young of Union Mills; 4 grandchildren, Christian (Jordan) Porter of La Porte, Rachel Porter of Indianapolis, Luke (Deborah) Porter of La Porte, and Conrad (Ariya) Porter of Hudson Lake; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

William was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gloria Applegate; and brother, Raymond Freese.

He proudly served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1967, with the 19th Engineer Battalion, as a Combat Engineer. He was honorably discharged with a military rank of Sergeant.

William was a millwright for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, and building. William was truly a man of many trades. The only thing that surpassed his skillfulness was his love for the Lord and his family. He will be fondly remembered for his regular prayers, reciting Psalm 91.
