William Gero Obituary

William Gero
June 28, 1947 - September 10, 2025
William (Bill) Gero, cherished husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on September 10, 2025 due to complications of the heart. Born on June 28, 1947 in St. Albans, VT, he was son of the late George and Arlene Gero.
Bill grew up in Torrington and was employed by Kimberly Clark. He retired on a disability in 1995. Two years later he married Sharon Pettit with whom he shared a love story filled with deep respect, unwavering support, and an enduring passion. The couple moved to a farm in Newark Valley, NY before moving to Bantam, where Bill enjoyed volunteer work transporting those in need to heath care appointments.
Bill will be remembered for his kind, loving, caring and humorous personality. His sense of humor bordered on zany, often with a quick retort whatever the subject, and he always had an entertaining story to tell. He embodied the best of qualities; unconditional love, strength of spirit, and an unending generosity that could be seen in his care for others.
Along with his wife, Sharon, Bill is survived by his four daughters, Michelle Ellsworth, Kelli King, Jennifer Gero, and Cara Pettit; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many loving in-laws and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Martha White and Brother Stuart Gero. A private family gathering will be held to celebrate his life.

Who knew brush hogging a field in Newark Valley would lead to many awesome memories? Bill Sharon, and Cara became very good friends through that job. We remember evenings playing 6-5-4 dice game with them, and were happy to be a part of their wedding at the farm. We will remember sore cheeks from laughing so much and awesome food. Never forgotten.
RIP Bill.
