William John Golonka, 90, formerly of Rochester, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 19, 2025, in North Andover, Massachusetts.
Born on November 26, 1934, in Adams, Massachusetts, William was the son of the late Alfred and Ethelyn (Ladabush) Golonka. Following his graduation in 1953 from Drury High, he enlisted in the National Guard.
William married Johann Grande, in 1955 and they spent seventy loving years together before her passing on June 19th, 2025.
William moved his family to Bedford, Ma when he was employed in the tool and die department at Polaroid Corporation, where he worked diligently until his retirement from a management position in the film pack division.
While living in Bedford, William was a proud member of the Bedford Minuteman Company and learned to play the fife. He loved marching in parades, attending historical reenactments and attending balls with his wonderful group of friends. He also enjoyed the years he spent volunteering for the Santa program. He still proudly displays his Bedford flag in his home.
William was an avid skier and spent years working for the National ski patrol at Nashoba Valley. He had several side jobs and loved working on small projects. One of his proudest accomplishments was participating in the development of the first fiberglass rescue sleds for ski resorts.
William & Johann loved to travel and enjoyed many adventures together, but Bermuda was without a doubt a special place for them. After his retirement William and Johann split their time between homes in Bonita Springs, Florida and their lake home in East Wakefield, NH. William was always active. Working on home improvement projects, attending weekly social advents with friends, playing golf, pool, wood carving and was always working on a puzzle.
Left to cherish his memory are his three children: Kimberly Daxon and her husband, Thomas, of Belmont, Massachusetts; Lynn Sheehan and her husband, Michael, of Natick, Massachusetts; and Jodi Lescarbeau and her husband, Wayne, of Lawrence, Massachusetts. He leaves behind nine grandchildren who have wonderful memories of time spent with him and ten great-grandchildren.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place under the care of Grondin Funeral Home.
