CELEBRATION OF LIFE
William Dean Grant (Butch)
DOB: 11/07/1950
WENT TO BE WITH OUR LORD: 08/27/2025
PLEASE JOIN HIS LOVING WIFE, VALERIE GRANT AND HIS CHILDREN:
IVA HALLMARK, TRACY GRANT, WILLIAM "CLINT" GRANT, JAYSON GRANT, GREGORY GRANT, ROBERT GRANT, JOHNATHON GRANT, ANNA GRANT, RUTH GRANT, RONALD GRANT AND RAVEN GRANT AS WE CELEBRATE HIS LIFE. (THERE ARE NUMEROUS IN-LAWS, GRANDKIDS, GREAT GRANDS, NIECES, NEPHEWS, COUSINS… AND COUNTLESS FRIENDS WHO BECAME FAMILY OVER THE YEARS. TOO MANY TO LIST!) DAD ALWAYS SAID COUNT YOUR RICHES IN THE PEOPLE IN LIFE, NOT MATERIAL THINGS! LOOK HOW RICH HE WAS!
PALLBEARERS: ALEX GRANT, BILLY GRANT, C.J. GRANT, NICHOLAS GRANT, CALEB GRANT AND SHAWN CAMPBELL.
THIS IS NOT GOING TO BE A TRADITIONAL FUNERAL. THIS IS NOT A FAREWELL GATHERING. THIS IS A GOING HOME CELEBRATION. A CELEBRATION FOR A LIFE THAT TOUCHED SO MANY LIVES. HE WASN'T PERFECT. THERE WAS ONLY EVER ONE PERFECT MAN IN HISTORY. BUT IN 1997, BUTCH REDEDICATED HIS LIFE TO THAT PERFECT MAN AND AFTERWARDS WAS A CHANGED MAN. HE WROTE HIS OWN OBITUARY AND PREACHED HIS OWN FUNERAL EVERY DAY THEREAFTER. WHETHER HE WAS TELLING PEOPLE ABOUT JESUS AND LEADING THEM TO SALVATION, HELPING THE ELDERLY, SICK AND SMALL CHILDREN IN NEED, FEEDING THE HUNGRY, BAPTISING, MARRYING, BURYING…. RAISING MONEY FOR WORTHY CAUSES. WHATEVER HE WAS DOING, HE WAS DOING IT FOR HIS SAVIOR. OF ALL THE MEN WE'VE KNOWN, WE CAN REST ASSURED HE HEARD THE WORDS, WELL DONE MY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT… AND HE'S SHOUTING PRAISES.
TO OUR BEAUTIFUL MOMMA: YOU WERE DAD'S "ONCE IN A LIFETIME LOVE". I KNOW 50 PLUS YEARS IS NOT LONG ENOUGH FOR A LOVE LIKE Y'ALL SHARED. WE FULLY BEILEVE THAT WHEN IT IS YOUR TIME TO JOIN DAD, YOU WILL LEARN THAT Y'ALLS LOVE FOR EACH OTHER IS ETERNAL. MOM, DAD WOULD WANT YOU CELEBRATING AND SINGING PRAISES TO JESUS. HE USED TO SAY, WHEN I GO, HAVE A GREAT BIG SINGING, EAT FRIED CHICKEN, AND BANANA PUDDING. DON'T CRY, I WON'T BE THERE! BE HAPPY BECAUSE I'LL BE SHOUTING IN GLORY!
DAD WANTED THE SONG, OH I WANT TO SEE HIM, SUNG AT HIS FUNERAL. WE MAY TRY TO SING IT LATER, BUT LET'S READ THE WORDS. KEEP IN MIND, DADDY LIVED THIS SONG!
"OH I WANT TO SEE HIM"
OH I WANT TO SEE HIM I WANT TO LOOK UPON HIS FACE
THERE TO SING FOREVER OF HIS SAVING GRACE
ON THE STREETS OF GLORY LET ME LIFT MY VOICE
MY CARES ARE PAST I'M HOME AT LAST EVER TO REJOICE
AS I JOURNEY THROUGH THE LAND SINGING AS I GO
I'M POINTING SOULS TO CALVARY THROUGH THE CRIMSON FLOW
MANY ARROWS PIERCE MY SOUL FROM WITHOUT WITHIN
BUT MY LORD LEADS ME ON THROUGH HIM I MUST WIN
(THIS WAS HIS FAVORITE PART)
YOU KNOW MORE THAN ANYTHING IN THIS WORLD I WANT TO SEE JESUS
I JUST WANT TO LOOK UPON HIS FACE THERE TO SING FOREVER
OF HIS SAVING GRACE ON THE STREETS OF GLORY
LORD LET ME LIFT MY VOICE, MY CARES ARE PAST
I'M HOME AT LAST EVER TO REJOICE
WE INVITE EVERYONE TO STAY AND SING PRAISES WITH US AFTER THIS CEREMONY.
DAD ALWAYS CLOSED ANY MEMORIAL OR FUNERAL SAYING, "IF THIS PERSON COULD TELL YOU ONE LAST THING IT WOULD BE…………"
SO, IF DAD, DADDY, BRO. BUTCH, POP, PAWPAW, WHATEVER YOU CALLED HIM, COULD SAY ONE LAST THING TO YOU TODAY, HE WOULD SAY JESUS IS REAL HEAVEN IS REAL, THE BIBLE IS REAL. DON'T OVERLOOK SALVATION! IF YOU HAVEN'T ACCEPTED JESUS AS YOUR PERSONAL SAVIOR, LET ME HELP LEAD ONE MORE SOUL TO HIM! HE WOULD ALSO SAY, IF I EVER WRONGED YOU, PLEASE FORGIVE ME. IF YOU WRONGED ME, I FORGIVE YOU. LOVE LIKE JESUS.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
