William Grassel Obituary
William Roger Grassel was born on December 15, 1934 in Grand Forks, ND the son of Leo and Ovidia (Johnson) Grassel. Bill grew up and attended school in East Grand Forks, MN. He joined the United States Army in 1957 and in 1959 he joined the Army Reserve. On March 4, 1960 he was united in marriage to Shirley Mathues in East Grand Forks, MN. He worked for Red River Cement, Strata and Hebron Brick in Grand Forks, ND before retiring in the early 2000s.
Bill is survived by his wife Shirley Grassel of East Grand Forks, MN; children, Scott (Patrick Steele) Grassel of Moses Lake, WA and Tammie Grassel of Apple Valley, MN; two grandchildren, Matthew and Dylan Henning and one great-grandchild, Isla Henning; brother, Robert "Butch" (Lou Ann) Grassel of Camdenton, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Leo Grassel, Jim Grassel, Shirley O'Leary, Carol Knoblich, LaVern Foy and Mary Lou Velaski.
Memorial Service: 2:00 PM, Monday, August 11, 2025 at Dahl Funeral Home, 2029 Central Ave. NW, East Grand Forks, MN 56721.
Visitation: One hour prior
Inurnment: Resurrection Cemetery, East Grand Forks, MN immediately following the service with Military Honors provided by the East Grand Forks American Legion Post #157, VFW Post #3817 and the MN National Guard.
