William Shaw Gregory

William Shaw Gregory, age 79, of Shelton, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday February 7, 2023. He was the loving husband of fifty-five years to Marilyn (Hyde) Gregory.
He was born on December 28, 1943, in Bridgeport, CT, the youngest son of the late Joseph and Rena Gregory. He served three years in the U.S. Marine Corps in the 1960s and worked for more than twenty years for the U.S. Postal Service before studying to become an R.N. After graduating from Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing in 1996, he spent twenty-five years as a home care nurse with Connecticut Hospice. This work was truly his life's vocation.
He was an avid reader, cook, and gardener and took great joy in giving away his garden vegetables to everyone he knew. He had a beautiful singing voice and sang for many years in the St Lawrence Parish choir. He loved Giant's football, feeding his birds, and fixing-up every square inch of his Shelton home.
He had a great devotion to the Blessed Mother and made pilgrimages to the shrines of Lourdes, Fatima, and Guadalupe. He was a daily communicant and lector at St. Joseph Parish in Shelton.
In addition to his wife, Marilyn, he is survived by three children, Thomas Gregory, William P. Gregory, and Rena Hemmann, and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, John and Joseph Gregory, and his sister Katherine Edwards.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. directly at St. Joseph Church, 50 Fairmont Place, Shelton. Interment will follow in Mount Saint Peter Cemetery, 219 New Haven Avenue, Derby.
