William “Buddy” Gregory, 78, of West Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on November 5, 2025. Born on June 25, 1947, in Daviess County, Indiana, Buddy lived a life marked by hard work, a love for his family, and time spent with others.
Buddy worked for many years as a mechanic, a trade that suited him perfectly. He was skilled, dependable, and always willing to help someone get back on the road. He enjoyed anything involving motors and speed, attending drag racing and other motorsport events. He spent many hours with friends and family at local spots, enjoying lively conversations, a Budweiser or two, and people watching. When at home, Buddy could often be found watching westerns, a genre he never tired of.
Buddy is survived by his wife, Naomi Drake; his son Bill (Tracey) Drappo; and his stepchildren Coby (Beth) Drake and Paula Drake. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Billy (Mary) Drappo, Annie Drappo (Aaron Anstrom), Savannah Bray, Brandi Drake, and Dalton Drake; and by his precious pup, Sophie, who was his constant companion.
He leaves behind his siblings, Jacquetta Schremmer of Kansas, James (Patricia) Hansen of Arkansas, and Ronald (Sue) Gregory of California.
Preceding him in death are his daughter Bobbi Jo Stevens, his parents Elnora Coleman and William Gregory, his brother Frank Gregory, and his granddaughter Codi Drake.
Buddy will be remembered for his humor, his mechanical know-how, and the love he had for those around him. He will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has been chosen. Arrangements are under the direction of Fitzpatrick Funeral Home.
