William Richard Guyer, a devoted family man and proud American, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025, in
Virginia Beach, VA, at the age of 82. Born on May 15, 1943, in
Lewisburg, PA, he lived a life marked by service, commitment, and a passion for creating and building. His Transition was marked by the very presence of God ~a testimony to the steadfast faith he carried in his heart and life.
A dedicated veteran, William served his country with honor as a Master Sergeant in the United States Army, retiring after more than 23 years of distinguished service. His dedication to his fellow soldiers and country was a testament to his unwavering character and strength.
Outside of his military career, William was a true do-it-yourself enthusiast. He took immense pride in his ability to craft and construct, whether it was dabbling in electrical projects or building decks. His hands were rarely idle, and his creativity knew no bounds. Always the busybody, William's enthusiasm for life was infectious, inspiring those around him to pursue their own passions with vigor.
A longstanding member of the American Legion for over 50 years, William found camaraderie and community among fellow veterans. His involvement exemplified his ongoing commitment to those who served and his belief in the power of fellowship and support.
William is preceded in death by his beloved parents, William and Mary Guyer. He is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Linda Guyer, who shared with him a journey filled with admiration and affection. His legacy continues through his children: Michael Guyer (Deborah), Jeffrey Guyer, Stephanie Shultz (Jeffrey), William Erdley, William (Billy Guyer, Bill Nordeen (Cara), Andrew F Bucher, and Keith Erdley as well as 16 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and a host of other significant family members and friends who cherished his love, guidance, and warmth.
Interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date, where William will be honored for his service and laid to rest among fellow heroes. Please send your fondest condolences to the family at the Cremation Society of Virginia website.
