SEABROOK, NH - William “Bill” Patenaude, Sr., 80, a former resident of the Centralville area for over 70 years, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Janet (Nelson) Patenaude for over 60 years.
He was born in Lowell on September 25, 1945, a son of the late William G. Patenaude a former Lowell School Committee member and founder of Dracut Sewer Service and Cecile (LaBrun) Patenaude. William was predeceased by his beloved granddaughter Shelbie Elise Murphy who passed in December of 2014. His nephew Richard “Rick” Patenaude in February 2006, his beloved brothers Roger J. Patenaude and Maurice P. Patenaude. He grew up alongside his brothers working construction for over 50 years at Dracut Sewer Service. He formally retired in 2009.
William was the proud father of 4 children, Sharon Patenaude Murphy and her husband Michael of Exeter, NH, Kathy Patenaude Dumont and her husband Peter of Pepperell, MA, William H. “Bill” Patenaude, Jr. and his wife Melinda of Goffstown, NH, youngest daughter Jackie Patenaude Murphy, the mother of his deceased granddaughter Shelbie Elise Murphy of Pelham, NH. His grandchildren Donald W. Murphy, Peter J. Dumont, Jr., Jack Dumont and his future wife Julia Conley, Madison Patenaude and her significant other Anthony Houston and William J. Patenaude. William is survived by his brother Richard “Mike” Patenaude and his wife Pauline, Mrs. Dorothea Patenaude wife of Roger J. Patenaude and Christine Patenaude wife of Maurice P. Patenaude. He is also survived by 4 sisters-in-law, Rosemary Nelson Young, Mary Nelson, Cindy Nelson and Judith Dickerman Nelson and 2 brothers-in-law William “Bill”Nelson and Mark Nelson. Several nieces and nephews.
It being his request, there will be no calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Tuesday morning, December 9, at 11 AM in St. Michael Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s name may be made to: Memorials Processing, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s PL, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
